Some artists and bands still managed to release albums during the Covid-19 lockdown. Two artists in particular recorded an album during the restrictions. The Rock and Roll hall of famers Paul McCartney and Elton John. Elton John recorded a collaborative album that reached Number one of the UK charts. He managed to record this album through Zoom and in studio following tight lockdown procedures. Elton John was quoted saying "But all the tracks I worked on were really interesting and diverse, stuff that was completely different to anything I'm known for, stuff that took me out of my comfort zone into completely new territory. And I realised there was something weirdly familiar about working like this. At the start of my career, in the late 60s, I worked as a session musician. Working with different artists during lockdown reminded me of that. I'd come full circle: I was a session musician again. And it was still a blast." McCartney on the other hand found himself writing for fun due to all the spare time he had. He recorded and produced the entire album himself. He said about the album "It was a lot of fun. It was about making music for yourself rather than making music that has to do a job. So, I just did stuff I fancied doing. I had no idea this would end up as an album." His album also ended up at Number one in the UK charts.
